Services for Substance Abuse and Chemical Dependency
ASSESSMENT SERVICES:
Assessments are scheduled by appointments and conducted by Certified Addiction Counselors or others trained in the
disease of addiction.
At Atlanta Behavioral Care, we believe addiction is a disease. Treatment is based on the bio-psycho-social
model of addiction and relapse prevention teaching/training with a focus on:
- The recovery and relapse process
- Post acute withdrawal syndrome
- Relapse prevention training
- Identification of "triggers" and early warning signs
- Strategies for avoidance of relapse
- Strategies or getting "back on track" should a relapse occur
Addiction not only affects the individual, but families and significant others as well. We offer:
- Individual therapy
- Family therapy
- Couples counseling
- Supportive group therapy sessions
Often, the addicted individual requires detoxification from alcohol or other drugs. The need for
hospitalization or ambulatory detoxification is determined and supervised by a physician at the time of the
assessment and includes the following services:
- Medical evaluation and intervention
- Pharmacological intervention as indicated
- A routine physical examination may be required if one has not been performed within the past year of if the doctor deems
necessary.
- Thorough assessment by a registered nurse experienced in the treatment of chemically dependent individuals.
Treatment of Opiate Addition:
Opiate dependence is prevalent in America and exists in all walks of life. Opoid addiction is considered a brain disease by the World
Health Organization. Suboxone is a medication used to treat this addiction. At Atlanta Behavioral care, doctors are specially trained and
can prescribe this medication as well as the counseling component of Suboxone treatment. For further information about
Suboxone, click here.
